Dr. Alison Bomba is a Maryland licensed psychologist who has been treating children, adolescents, and young adults in private practice since 2007. She received her doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University in Washington, D.C. Dr. Bomba provides results-oriented, compassionate care and uses ethical, evidence-based practices to effectively treat various psychiatric disorders. She works closely with schools, pediatricians, and other health professionals to provide comprehensive treatment and is also available to conduct classroom observations and attend school meetings as needed to assist parents in advocating for their children’s educational needs. Dr. Bomba’s areas of specialty include grief and loss therapy and the cognitive behavioral treatment (CBT) of anxiety disorders and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). In 2015, she relocated her private practice from Ellicott City, MD to Frederick, MD.
 
Having lived in Frederick County for many years, Dr. Bomba strives to identify the ever-changing needs of the community. Therefore, in addition to providing direct therapeutic services, she frequently gives informational talks to community groups, parent associations, schools, and religious organizations. Dr. Bomba is frequently interviewed as a professional consultant by writers for local magazines and newspapers and has presented several continuing education workshops for other mental health professionals. She also contributed two book chapters in highly esteemed psychologist and author, Dr. Robert Neimeyer’s books, Techniques of Grief Therapy: Creative Practices for Counseling the Bereaved and Techniques of Grief Therapy: Assessment and Intervention.
 
In September 2013, Dr. Bomba was a recipient of The Daily Record’s Leading Women Award. This award recognizes Maryland women age 40 or younger for the tremendous accomplishments they have made in their careers. Women are judged on professional experience, community involvement, and a commitment to inspiring change.
 
In April 2019, Dr. Bomba partnered with Kelly Beins, OTR of Occupational Therapy Consulting, LLC to host Screen-FREE Week Frederick 2019. Screen-FREE Week is an annual international initiative that encourages families to swap digital entertainment for the joys of life beyond the screen. Dr. Bomba and Ms. Beins brought this initiative to the entire Frederick community!
 
Dr. Bomba is an ambassador of the Mental Health Association of Frederick County (MHA), currently serving as immediate past president of the Board of Directors. She is also a member of the Maryland Psychological Association (MPA) and a member of the Rotary Club of Carroll Creek in Downtown Frederick.
