Change Mentor

Even with an M.B.A. focused on strategic planning, Karen Justice gained most of her change management skills by living. Through frequent relocations and fluctuating life events, she learned early that things never stay the same. Managing her responses to imposed changes taught her to focus on what mattered most. Devising and planning proactive responses enabled her to maintain some control of how her life was impacted.

Karen worked in various areas across the country and abroad serving as a teacher and trainer, non-profit manager, strategic planning facilitator, writer, promoter of counties and scientific innovations, and several other enjoyable responsibilities in nearly twenty different industries through twelve states and three countries. With twenty-nine lifetime moves, she’s become skilled at managing change. With her diverse employment background, skills, and education, Karen now serves as a Change Mentor. The author of two books on change, Karen also offers online workshops five times a year and other classes and workshops on request.

Although she’s out exploring the world as much as currently possible, when she’s home, Karen volunteers her time. A 2007 graduate of Leadership Frederick County, Karen served on committees with the LFC Alumni Council, the Tourism Council of Frederick County, the Women’s Business Network of Frederick, the Maryland Governor’s Tourism Industry Conference, Catoctin Forest Alliance, and the One Mountain Foundation in the northwest corner of Frederick County. She currently supports the Woman to Woman Mentoring Program in Frederick County which she was responsible for getting underway and volunteers for activities in her church.

With her late husband, John, she also renovated a 100-year-old powerhouse in Sabillasville. She’s now living a “no shutters, no gutters” life in a condo in Frederick. It gives her the freedom to do what she loves – travel. In addition to enjoying photography, good friends, good food. . . and being a Change Mentor.
